We bought these for our 2 cats as we travel from Florida to Oregon and need to take them with us from time to time. My cat is about 7 pounds and my cat is about 9 pounds. They fit perfectly in backpacks and my cat is quite a long cat. I had the issue that some others mentioned of the weight of the backpack hitting my lower back, but I fixed that by carrying a fanny pack and resting the bottom of the backpack on the fanny pack. It beats my husband up so it's not a problem for him. For $$ I don't think you can beat them. They are well ventilated and since I live in Florida we needed them. The first day we walked on a noisy Portland street and my cat pissed in the net! The pad below was easy to wash and I just rinsed the rest in the sink. No problem. The smell people were talking about went away after the first day. One odd design issue is that the side zippers start and end at the bottom of the pack. So when you upload them you have to tilt it to access the zipper to close it. Not a big deal, but a top zip might have been better. They sit at an angle (depending on their weight, I'm sure) but both cats are comfortable and that's not a problem. Great find and I recommend them so far!
