Good support but poor design

First I just want to say that I followed the size chart and it turned out to be correct. However, the braces could be a bit big, but they were definitely the right size. So I had no problems with landing. But if you're at the bottom of the sizing chart, it might be worth ordering a size down. In any case, the braces themselves are fine. It offers decent support with side stabilizers and the elastic support straps with Velcro really make a big difference. I like being able to adjust the compression ratio. I had read a number of reviews before purchasing this bandage and I was sure I would give it a try. But now that I've tried it, I'm surprised I didn't find mention of what I thought was a fairly significant downside. And that's thanks to the overall "open back" design combined with velcro straps. Individually this is good, but together it is extremely impractical. Because the elastic straps cross the back of the knee, it immediately begins to rub against the exposed skin. This can be alleviated by wearing braces over clothing, but I've never seen braces work so well. The silicone grip works better on the skin. The best solution I have found is to bandage the knee first with an ACE elastic bandage (but not tight so as not to increase the compression) and then put this brace on top of it. So I have some protection for the back of my knees from chafing straps. While I understand that the open back of the knee makes that area more breathable, I just feel that a closed design with cross straps would be more comfortable. So basically it will be more of a sleeve than a wrap. Again, since I don't see anyone reporting this issue, it's possible it's just an "I" issue. Trust me when I say I've tried many times to adjust the straps so they don't cross the back of my knee. But it just doesn't work that way, and even if it did, it wouldn't offer the same level of support. In summary, elastic bands are good, just not on bare skin behind the knees.
