This is my favorite mouse and I have used (and replaced) the same model for years with no problems. When my last one started giving me problems (I've had it for three years now and it's being used well) I replaced it with this one. Although they look the same, there are a few notable differences: 1. This finish is matte instead of glossy (as it used to be), making it less comfortable to hold in the palm of your hard drive.2. The ball does not feel smooth. You can feel friction when you move. I took out the new ball and put in the old one to minimize this but it's still not very good.3. Scrolling is also harder to move - it feels stiff compared to previous models. One of the main advantages of this mouse was the efficiency with which it moves on the page - on the new model it is significantly reduced, which makes using the mouse and navigating difficult. I will probably return this mouse and try a different model given these quality changes.
