I bought these for my daughter's birthday. Why do you ask? Well, I had the brilliant idea of buying unopened geodes and letting the girls go on a "treasure hunt" (they picked the geode in the kids' pool) and then break the rocks themselves. Well that was stupid. Hacking geodes is a lot harder than you might think, especially for 6 year old girls. Using a small rock hammer didn't work, so I took a hammer and chisel and started pounding. And shavings from the geode fell down. I'd look like Simeon Stareyes if it weren't for those glasses (a nod to A Song of Ice and Fire, in case that doesn't make sense to you). As long as they're fine.
