The problem with the design is the poor sound quality with body packs.

Pros: I liked this device the moment I bought it. The receiver is well made and well thought out. Frequency scanning and microphone frequency programming are excellent. I bought a handheld mic to have options and it came pre-programmed and works great. The bad: The body wraps are noisy, static, and the voice and audio quality is choppy and choppy. I made this video at the request of phenyx support and sent it to them. I just sent it and am waiting for your reply. I think it's a design issue where the bodypack interferes with the microphone wiring and circuitry due to a lack of shielding. As you move the wire closer and further from the portable antenna, the noise gets louder as you get closer and quieter (but doesn't go away) as you move away from the antenna. Even with the microphone cable as far away from the antenna as possible, the sound quality was not acceptable to me. I'll wait and see what phenyx says before sending this back in case they can send me remanufactured packages or a shielded microphone cable that might solve the problem. This problem ruins an otherwise great product. Update 05/03/2021 No answer from Phenyx support yet. I went to a music store and tried the $99 lavalier mic element with the bodypack instead of the lavalier mic that phenyx supplied and the static and wavy sound was gone but the volume dropped dramatically on white noise from the bodypack preamp, so I threw away $100 because the body pack is still useless. We have found that the impedance of a Phenyx microphone approaches megaohms, while traditional microphones range from 600 to several kohms. The high impedance makes it susceptible to noise, and the bodypack doesn't seem to work well with a low-impedance microphone. I'll wait a few more days for the response from support. An update from 06/05/2021 will add a star rating. Phenyx support sent a refund straight away so I could send the device straight to them for testing. They seemed genuinely interested in solving the problem. I decided not to replace the gear because I had a gig deadline and needed the gear right away so I had to buy another product.
