Highest Quality, Proven Reliability, Excellent Value

This has been my favorite in my design office, lab and machine shop for many years. The adhesive is aggressive and has sufficient thickness. It is very aggressively sticky, if you test it by pressing down firmly on your finger, it will be uncomfortable to pry from your hand. It works well for masking paper labels on parts in plastic bags and boxes, avoiding the need for ridiculous labeling machines. We don't rely on it much for parcel delivery (as we have excellent water-activated paper tape for that), but it's better suited for shipping a variety of 3M products that have stood the test of time over the years. Oily Environments We have items that have been stored with this tape for years in hot/humid storage and it has not yellowed, peeled, loosened, shrunk or become brittle - all concerns with long term storage. It is single layer optically clear so you can coat shipping labels and barcodes with it to protect against bullets. I checked the thickness with a micrometer at 3.5 mils (0.0035 inches). I've tried many brands and they all seem to cost between 1 and 2 mils, which isn't enough for the body to hold up well let alone resist the onset of tearing. The sweet spot seems to be around 3 mils or more. This thickness allows the tape to lay evenly and smoothly when applied properly, without wrinkles and stretching. The roll comes off very loudly. This is a good sign: the material adheres well to itself. A silent band is a weak band. Tip: Do not stretch the tape around the corners, but always lay and wrap it evenly, but without slack. If you stretch it as you apply it, it pulls on the adhesive bond, making it want to come loose. Smells like it should. Just a faint smell of acrylic adhesive chemistry when you tear it off the roll. At least nothing unpleasant or harmful. I believe this is identical to the old reliable SP Richards (Sparco) 60041 sealing tape but with a different name and brand name, although the packaging says SP Richards in small print. , this is the king of versatile thick tapes for my work.
