Bought locally so not a verified Revain purchase. This is a review of the radio I bought. I am not affiliated with anyone who makes or sells it. As far as pocket radios go, this isn't the best you can get, but it's way better than some others I've had and I can safely say it's the best you've got. can you do with this money. Good to very good FM reception, with a DSP chip that gives good selectivity and station retention once you've got it. AM reception is average to good. The weird thing about AM is that the radio sometimes makes weird noises that remind me of the electronic tones of casino slot machines, but that only happens when you switch between AM stations and move the tuning knob slowly. While I would describe this radio's AM band as being good for local and stronger regional signals, it generally picks up some of the daytime better, like 50kW stations from 200 miles away during the day. . At night it picks up a lot of distant signals just like any AM radio. But FM is definitely the stronger band for this little QFX. The shortwave coverage is odd, as it starts at 7.5MHz, apart from the 60m and 49m bands, which are sort of a nighttime staple of shortwave listening, at least in North America. . However, I was able to pick up some international channels on the available frequencies. I believe this radio can be sold primarily in areas where shortwave is more of a local or regional radio service, so frequencies can be selected for that. There are many radio stations with the best shortwave coverage for music listeners around the world. Check out the Grundig Eton Mini Compact which is thinner than this radio making it very compact. The Eton Grundig may be slightly more expensive than this radio, but it's still quite affordable. The sound of the small QFX speaker is fuller than you would expect from something of this size. If you plug in headphones or earphones, you'll get audio from both channels, even if the audio is mono. This is good as some mono radios require an adapter to send audio to both sides of the stereo headset. Two AA batteries last almost forever. When I received this radio I put in two 3rd party alkaline sources that originally came in something else and they are still working after tens of hours. It's a radio that you can throw in your bag or slip in your jacket pocket and take with you wherever you go. because it is very affordable but works well enough. It also looks beautiful. I buy pretty much any cheap pocket radio I can find, and some of these are real dogs that literally aren't worth the plastic they're made of. But this little guy works reliably, especially on FM, and is good value for money.
