Cruel shoes! (Designed by Steve Martin?)

This was my first purchase of a 1080v. Let me start by saying that I liked it. The heel is excellent. Very easy to put on and take off, great fit without all the bulk around the collar. I hate everything else about this shoe. First, for those with really wide feet, and with good reason, this build falls well short of a 4E width. In the best case it is 2E. The toe is terrible! To make matters worse, they appear to have added some machining to the mesh to make it stiff. I'm guessing because they want it to keep its shape and not look like elf shoes. The problem is that your big toes rub against the petrified burlap. Also, the liner has an elastic band that connects to the tongue on the sides of the boot and from the bottom of the lace hole through the sock to the side of the boot. It limits the width of the outer midsole of the foot and is very irritating on the big toe side. The only way I can describe it is as if the straps of a tank top were pinched between your legs and the top. I'm guessing again, but maybe someone thought it would provide extra stability but really messed up the design. After all, the "soft" Fresh Foram just isn't. I tried to wear them around the house as freely as possible for three days, hoping they would break. It just hurt my legs. Every part of my foot, arches, soles, toes and ankles just hurt! I literally hobbled around my house to write this review. I can only imagine how bad it would be if I tried to walk two miles to blast them apart. I will try to return them. I cannot recommend these shoes to anyone. Shame on you New Balance.
