Great budget camping tent

I was surprised at how impressed I was with this tent. It reminded me of the two man dome tents we had when I was a kid hiking in the 80's but with many modern upgrades. Rods (this means the rods have inner bushings, not outer ones like you usually see with fiberglass rods). Installation takes about a minute and requires no deployment. The waterproof bottom expands about 3 inches on the sides and then transitions into a lighter waterproof fabric for the next 12 to 14 inches or so. The entire upper is made of mesh for ventilation as it should be to prevent condensation. Each long side has a large door. Other reviewers are right when they say the flash is great. Although the zipper goes around the door, you can quickly open it with one hand. Each door has a mesh pocket to put directly into the tent. There is a removable net that fits to the top of the dome or a clip for hanging the lantern. The bow tie is great. It has four old zip ties about halfway to secure it to the bars and then four latches to secure it at the corners. You only need two of the six pins for the bow tie to work - for the two sides with the doors. Once you enter you have two vestibules, one for each person in the tent; They're not huge, but you could probably fit a stove or medium-sized backpack in without climbing over them, or a larger backpack through the opening. The two short sides have retractable ventilation pediments supported by a semi-rigid foot. The tongue is attached to the gable with Velcro so it can be easily rolled up. Color Mudra, this is a nice combination of muted blues and greens - no gaudy colors here - which I appreciate for the relaxing forest setting. Once the fly is put on, it becomes an inconspicuous green bump. While I'm testing a lot of tents this season, I have to thank the manufacturer that the values score. Some other brands are "cheaper" and use a flat-ended stake, and let me tell you, you can tell the difference if you try to drive them into packed dirt with the found rock. As far as weight goes, it's not. This is not an ultra light tent, but it is designed to be as light as possible while retaining its function. All fabrics are light, the poles are as thin as possible, the posts are made of aluminium. I'm not actually a microlight hiker; I like to carry a little extra weight for comfort and it fits nicely on my favorite seat. Not sure if it's light enough for long solo hikes, but it's definitely good for a little extra room on 2-3 day runs or when sharing with a partner for longer rides. It's a lot lighter than the old tents in this size range that I've been used to since I was young. I will definitely use it with my daughter this season.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine
