I have compared this speaker to several bluetooth speakers including: Cambridge Soundworks Angle Plus, Bose Soundlinke Mini II and Doss Soundbox XL. There are many speaker characteristics that are purely subjective. Customization, in particular, is subjective, and that's one of the things I love about this column. This speaker's setup emphasizes vocals without sacrificing bass, which is exactly what I was looking for. I listen to a huge range of music genres, from classical to trip-hop and everything in between, and none of the speakers I tested reproduced the range of genres I expect to sound as good as the xb20. The closest competitor I felt was Bose has more accurate midrange response - the xb20's mids have a more airy, reverberant sound. however, the bose doesn't emphasize the vocals as much as the xb20, so the vocals are played quieter than the background music for comparison. For setup and price reasons, the xb20 was an easy choice for me. However, if you prefer a smoother equalizer and don't mind the price difference, you might want to consider buying an Audiolink. I find the Sound Link emphasizes vocals more than the average speaker, just not in the same way as the xb20. I also decided to keep the Doss Soundbox xl mainly because it can run at 20Hz, while the xb20 (and Soundlink for that matter) can hit 50Hz or 60Hz at extremely low frequencies. As for the bass, however, the xb20 delivers significantly more punchy bass than the sound box at low volume. The bass reproduction of this speaker is really impressive, although I couldn't find any significant difference to the Bose in this regard. I think the Bose probably sounds louder without distortion, but I only play music at low to medium volumes. In fact, it's probably worth noting that I find the xb20 to be an IDEAL speaker, ESPECIALLY for those who want to play music at low to medium volumes and still want great bass response and midrange punch. If you're looking for it (and still can find it), then buy the xb20. As a side note, I have to recommend the oluv speaker comparison tool (google it). I don't like his reviews but his comparison tool is really amazing. You must use headphones
