I love the window but beware of the strong chemical smell

I really wanted to love this product! The size is perfect, the clear window makes it easy to find things, and the price is good. Unfortunately I bought these to store my toddler's toys and the bins have a very strong chemical smell. It doesn't seem safe for a small child. I'm still debating whether to try washing the smell off or just return them and go for a higher quality product.
