I bought this power supply for a ThinkPad T410 which was given as a gift to a family friend. It looks like a normal cheap power supply. I've had no problems with it for three days of testing and a family friend has owned it for almost two months and I haven't received a single call yet. I would recommend that you ensure your battery is holding a charge and charging properly before or shortly after getting an AC adapter. Bad batteries can put a lot of strain on power supplies because they will be subjected to more stress (starting the PC and charging/attempting to charge) with a bad battery for a longer period of time than with a new one. I've seen new laptops with OEM chargers fail over time.
