It appears to be very sturdy and goes very well with the jar I was using. In this application, it was difficult to hold the glass in place. The first or second time I thought it was fully tightened, I took my hand away and was able to twist the nut a little more. There was also a squeaking/crunching sound from the glass until it was tightened to the point where it stopped moving in the glass hole when twisted into place. I filled it with water and let it sit overnight with no leaks. I bought it fearing the original plastic version wouldn't last for years while making batches of homemade vinegar (long term acidification situation).
