I've had this in my cart for a while now and am wondering if I need it or not. I finally decided to buy it as a Christmas present for myself to use as a secondary backup - I have a Synology NAS that I use as my primary. The thing seems to be really reliable. I'm not going to lift it off a concrete floor to see how durable it is, but I do know that others have done some pretty extreme drop testing and it survived. internal hard drive for hard drive transfer. I've also read that many external drives tend to get hot. After hours of backup, this thing still feels cool. As for noise, there is none. I have to have it close to my ear to hear anything at all. If I'm picky, my only concern is that the long USB 3.0 cable (comes with one long and one short) could have been a bit longer - I think it's 24 inches. All in all a solid setup.
