Review on 🐱 Hartz UltraGuard Pro Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens, Long-Lasting 7 Month Flea and Tick Prevention and Protection, 1 Collar by Jason Camarillo

Revainrating 1 out of 5

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, OUR CAT WAS LOST TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS COLLAR!

PLEASE NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU CONCERN YOUR CATS' SAFETY! yours too. This collar doesn't deserve a review, but it does deserve a class action lawsuit. I recently bought this flea collar for my grandma's cat who was about 5 months old, not quite a kitten anymore but not yet fully grown and was an street cat but now on the verge of becoming an indoor cat (her previous one Indoor cat passed away last fall) so we had to make sure it didn't have fleas or eggs. I saw the 4-5 star reviews and realized this was Revain's choice, so I figured it must be safe and effective to get such a high rating. It also says it's for cats and kittens so I thought it would be perfect it should work fine as I know kittens shouldn't wear cat flea collars due to differences in strength. After a few days the cat felt fine, but almost a week after carrying her, one evening she suddenly became very lethargic as we were having a hard time finding her in the house. We immediately suspected a flea collar as we knew of other animals that sometimes got sick after wearing them but always perked up when it was removed. So the next morning (today-Sunday) by this time the flea collar had been removed for several hours, but the cat was only getting worse and at that moment she could neither lift her head nor stand up. She began rowing as if she were swimming and moving, but she stayed on the ground with her eyes closed. At the time we thought the leg movement was a good sign, but we were still very concerned as you couldn't see her breathing with a weak heartbeat and still appeared unconscious. We immediately called our local vet, luckily she answered on Sunday but told us she could not see the cat but would go to a vet clinic about 30 miles away for an emergency visit as this is very common in those countries. Hartz brand collars cause flea collar toxicity and all of the symptoms are consistent with what this cat was going through. We drive there immediately 90+ with a cat on our laps to the hospital. We are greeted by a vet who takes it and checks it immediately and then comes back to us: glucose, 40 mg/dl, normal temperature but high blood pressure. It turned out that rowing was a cramp. But it looks 50/50. We're going to have the hospital hold her to put her on IVs, get her blood sugar up, and clean the poison out of that collar. About 4 hours after leaving the vet I got a call that she had died with catheter and all to try to save this cat but she couldn't survive. After calling the vet that the cat wasn't even showing signs of fleas, this loss shouldn't have happened at all as we shouldn't have even put a collar on her because she didn't have fleas in the first place. So, within minutes of speaking to the vet, I had to tell our grandmother that her little kitten had not survived and that this collar was the sole cause of her pet's death. I hope no one has to go through this like we did, less than 24 hours after noticing symptoms to bury your grandmother's cat who shouldn't have even had that collar. This product is absolutely misleading and LETHAL to kittens or cats under the age of one year or ever. Although the hospital is not convinced that our cat's age played a role in why the toxicity was so severe. I will NEVER use a cat collar again, especially this brand and collar. PLEASE AGAIN IF YOU CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CATS PLEASE NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT! I hope this review saves other people's pets as we lost our own as a result.
