Doesn't go backwards at all; it is not regulated. I bought it because of the good quality leather so it won't chip, but it looks like it was designed by people who want their employees to work in the office and just looks like a gaming chair. I was about to throw out my old gaming chair that has been peeling off for years and making a huge mess, but I'd rather have bonded leather to deal with than constantly leaning forward.
