Before buying this set I read a lot of reviews about apothecary jars, plus an extra separate large (three in a set and then another large, that's the same size as a large one in the set). In a separate large I have Epsom salts; in the set of 3 i have qtips, cotton pads and cotton balls.) They are just wonderful. They have a very thick base that looks like glass and weighs the container down nicely. There were a number of apothecary jars I read reviews about that had very tight fitting lids. These do not close. I didn't want a set that did this. I wanted the lid to be easy to lift off with one hand in case the other is busy with hand cream or whatever, I wanted the lid to be easy to remove. This is compliant. With one hand you can remove and reattach these covers. They have a nice lip going into the top, but it's more like a cookie jar that sits snugly on top rather than a sealing utensil that would require two hands to open. They look great, are the perfect size and will add an eye-catching appearance to your bathroom. I would give them six stars if I could.
