First, like other docks, it is just a dock, it does NOT come with a switch charger, so you need a switch charger to connect it (and make sure that the charger supports TV mode). The docking station is small and portable. I really like the magnetic cover that covers the actual USB-C dock, so putting it in your pocket protects the USB-C port so it doesn't get snagged on anything. All of the ports on this dock exit from the back, so make sure you use it to deal with the cables that plug into the back. The ports on it are for the Switch charger (USB-C input), HDMI, and a USB 3.0 port (a Joycon charging dock connects to this port). The dock can be used both in TV mode and with a push of a button on the dock as a charging station where you can play on the Switch screen when it's connected to the dock, which is handy when you're traveling and using want to play the switchboard on the table or desk. I still have my original switch dock, but now I made it my regular dock for my switch because it is more convenient to use, you don't have to worry about screen scratches when you get in and out of the dock, and it just works like the original.
