Review on Regalo Swing Down 54-Inch Extra Long Bed Rail Guard: Enhanced Safety with Reinforced Anchor System by Inocencio Anas

In short, more difficult to use than stated

This does not live up to the promises or the product description. It also didn't work well with our thick mattress. Overall the main issues are that it's not as big as advertised so not very useful on our bed and it's extremely difficult to use the levers/latches to raise and lower the handrail. We got this handrail for a queen size bed on a hard surface. Frame without box spring. We share a bed with our 10 month old who sleeps between us at night and sleeps in the bed during the day. THIS IS NOT A 20 INCH HEIGHT. Measured from the bottom tier of our bed (in our case it's the bed frame, but for someone else it might be a spring block), this rail is nearly 18.5 inches long. Another 1.5 inches makes a big difference. Measured from the pivot (where it folds), it's closer to 17.5 inches. This is too small for thick mattresses. I ordered it knowing that 20 inches wouldn't give us much height due to our large mattress. But then he wasn't even 20 inches tall. It's hardly worth using. It is very difficult to tuck in blankets with the pole, especially at the end where the latches are provided to raise and lower the pole. If you use a lot of sheets or comforters, this may not work at all. We use a sheet, a woven blanket and a quilted bedspread. This thickness is too great to conveniently mount the rail in a vertical position (unless you use a cross mount to mount it over the bed). I find it difficult to hold the handrails in the correct position and lock them in a vertical position. It's like trying to close an overstuffed suitcase. I suspect that if we had used a blanket or extra blanket it wouldn't fold or close at all. Locks are REALLY difficult to use. Even with no blankets plugged in, it's difficult to just flip the locking switch up or down. Worse from back pressure from bedding. My husband said it wasn't that bad so maybe if you have stronger hands. I find it almost impossible and it hurts to push the lever so hard. This is very frustrating. Maybe they loosen up a bit with use? Hopefully.
