Review on πŸ“· DIGITALFOTO Ares Z Axis Spring Gimbal Dual Handle: Compatible with ZHIYUN Crane 2, DJI Ronin S/SC, FEIYU AK2000/4000, Moza Air 2 and More! by Timothy Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

MUCH better than I expected! I HIGHLY recommend it with DJI Ronin S

I've been using the DJI Ronin S for almost a year now with my Canon M50 as well as my Canon 1Dx Mark II. Love this combination. But with long shots, the hand gets very tired. So I thought about dual handlebars, but then I thought about the cheaper DigitalFoto spring grips for the same price but they look chunky; and I finally settled on Ares Z. I AM SO HAPPY I chose Ares Z; Build quality is the same as DJI Ronin S, VERY high quality! The Ares Z installs in seconds and turning the two knobs adjusts the tension (you'll need to match the weight of the camera you're using). The end result is that I can now hold my DJI Ronin S for much longer as the weight is distributed across both hands and the extra cushioning really helps MUCH more than I expected. One downside is that when I want to use the DJI Ronin A's joystick or home button, I end up using one hand on the spring grip. and with the other hand on the Ronin S. NOTE: Instead of placing the grip on the Ronin S as in the image above, I placed it closer to the bottom of the Ronin S so I can comfortably hold the grip on the Ronin S when I want to use the joystick. (See photo attached to this review). I've used Ares Z with Ronin S for 5 sessions so far, that's over 40 hours of use and I absolutely LOVE it. I HIGHLY recommend the Ares Z. I also recommend using DF DIGITALFOTO's Spider Hang Strap; The combination of these two factors allowed me to easily shoot 8 hours a day (see photo of me wearing the strap). I'll be doing a video review about it on my YouTube channel soon; it is a heavenly dream combination. FYI: I shoot weddings and corporate events under the dKweddings name. Let me know if you have any questions! I will update this review with videos and better photos when I get a chance. (Sorry I didn't wash the mirror when I took the picture, you idiot!)

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Solid construction but ultimately unsuccessful for my purpose
