Review on Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier Blue 0-3 Months Pack of 2 by Cindy Tapia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Favorite of my newborn daughter.

We were given 2 of these at the hospital but were not allowed to use them until the end of the second month to avoid possible nipple confusion with breastfeeding. But the Soothies have since become lifesavers (me and my wife)! Most of the time our little daughter was soothed by swaddling, rocking, rocking etc, but sometimes she just needs to suck on her nipple between meals. Anywhere in the range of a few seconds to minutes she falls asleep and suckles at a slower and slower rate. I ordered 4 more so I still have one ready (1 for my mom, 1 for MIL, 1 in diaper bag, 1 on top, 1 on bottom, 1 attached to baby). A friend recently lost her pacifier and had to buy it at the store and use it without sterilization (yes, the baby is alive). However, the pacifier is not a panacea. She doesn't always like it and even uses her tongue to actively push it out when she doesn't feel like it and then purses her lips (really cute!). There are 2 small holes in the nipple from which you can use any pacifier strap such as BooginHead or Ulubulu. Unless you have the ninja reflexes to catch a pacifier when a baby spits it out or drops it, clip-on ties are a must. The strap is also useful for keeping the pacifier on your finger while baby is being carried. We also tried the Nuk, which is said to be shaped to allow it to breathe better, but she doesn't like it at all.

Pros
  • Hospital grade silicone
Cons
  • Something else
