Review on Hoya 67Mm Digital Filter Kit by Ray Richards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as expected

I bought this kit for my 67mm and 77mm lenses. Then I tested both lenses at sunset and during a misty hot late morning sun. When I was shooting a sunset I thought they didn't work as expected but then I realized it was my fault as I'm new to very long exposure photography and using high quality filters. It is important to calculate the exposure time, learn the intricacies of setting the shutter speed, turn off automatic exposure and image stabilization, add a filter, switch to bulb exposure mode, etc. - the steps must be followed. The LCD screen was difficult to see during recording. many more steps. I was happy with my results when viewing them on a full size computer screen. Sure, some frames failed, but again because I miscalculated the exposure time and didn't use a magnifying glass. Based on other reviews I was expecting a color cast which is easy to fix in one post. A few shots - I left the tint for creative experimentation. One of the nice surprises with this filter is that I was able to use it as a running filter in bright sunshine. It happened accidentally when I left the Hoya filters on after a supervised early morning photo session with Hoya and another brand. the UV, Hoya's Circular Polarizer and ND8 filters worked great for controlling glare, haze and glare on a particularly hot summer morning in a crowded area. They stayed for the 30-minute morning shoot. I could not find anything wrong with these filters, to be used alone or in combination with other filters. One of the nice surprises with this filter is that I can use it as a running filter when the sun is shining brightly.
