Received this while looking at the reviews hoping it would work for navigation. But this is a standard data cable (and if you look at it, it's a regular USB cable, as it says on the cable itself, it says on the box too, the manufacturer puts an extra proprietary sticker on it citing Garmin ), but obviously doesn't apply to Garmin. So when you plug this in, the Garmin Nuvi goes into data transfer mode and waits for the computer to download updates or waypoints. It is impossible to say that this was not the case. What it's supposed to do: The cable used for navigation is a little different from the standard USB, and Garmin recognized that and put it into navigation mode.
