The portrait format optics was important to me, unfortunately it hardly opens in this case, it slips easily out of the groove. The screen was not protected either, when the product was on, fell a few feet, my screen is still cracked in the corner :( I wouldn't buy this if A: you want to protect your device B: you need portrait mode C : Out of concern for durability this thing will scratch and become a gritty plastic texture Buy if all you care about is a cool color scheme and the ability to stand horizontally I regret not having gotten a more durable case made from better materials.
