I have never tried a dog coat but with a 7 month Lab 60# I decided to give it a try. Lined nylon is not as thick as I would like. I thought so, but the lab is hot most of the time anyway, so that might even be a good thing. The color is beautiful and appears to be well made. The zipper from the neck to the tail can be an issue as the Labrador doesn't like to stand still... he's still a puppy. The soft adjustable neck is good because it has a large neck and overall construction. It doesn't have rear leg straps, but I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not. The fit was snug, comfortable to wear but comfortable.
