I love Saucony's Peregrine line. I've had a pair since April and finally decided to retire them after 600+ miles on the trail. Ideal time for a Goretex model. It takes me about two weeks to break them in. You are a bit small. I prefer hiking boots a half size larger, so for hiking I would order a full size larger than what you normally wear. I prefer hiking shoes to boots. I just can't wear heavy shoes anymore because of my back injury and creaking knees and hips. This is a great lightweight shoe with a good waffle sole for mud and loose rocks. I tend to roll my ankle easily and although the upper is low I have enough ankle support and good sole construction that I can't roll my ankle in them. far away i walked in mid 30's conditions/rain. My feet stay dry. I'm curious how they behave in leggings in the snow. Are spikes needed? Mmm maybe. The time will show.
