My daughter is 21 months old and we are just starting to phase out sleeping bags. So far she had always slept in one of them. Getting dressed was an important part of her sleep routine and signaled her it was time to lie down and go to bed. They were great when she was very little because you didn't have to worry about her getting tangled in them or wrapping them around her face/head. She moves around a lot in her sleep, so you always knew the blanket would stay on you, you didn't have to worry about her getting cold, having to sneak inside to tuck her back in, etc. We made them both thicker fleece and light cotton. . . Combining it with a lighter or heavier pajama underneath gave us plenty of options to adapt to any weather outside (apparently we only used light cotton in the summer, sometimes with a diaper underneath). I'm a big fan of sleeping bags.
