Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was skeptical but I think there is something about weighted blankets!

I've struggled with insomnia for years, partly due to what I call "brain escape" and the inability to stay asleep for an hour or more. I thought retirement would get better, but it didn't. I've tried CBD, THC, antihistamines, melatonin, white noise, listening to podcasts on pillow speakers, turning off blue screens at 8pm, all to no avail. Weighted blankets which I had heard of before but thought were a gimmick. But this press release talked about how they release serotonin levels. So I thought what the heck and did a little research on the internet. I finally decided on this YnM bamboo blanket after reading many reviews. Since I weigh 115 pounds, I bought a 12 pound comforter. (The correct weight is 10% of your body weight). At first I thought it might be too heavy - it takes a bit of getting used to and I could probably take 10 pounds too, but trading in for a lighter blanket isn't enough for me. I feel like I'm getting used to the weight after two weeks. What happened right away was that I fell asleep within 30 minutes the first time. And even though I had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I fell asleep again. It was my first night of 8 hours sleep in months! However, I still didn't believe the blanket because it was particularly cold that evening and you always sleep better in winter weather. But the second night is the same. Although I did warm up a bit in the middle of the night and took them off then put them back on and slept until 8am. Again I had 8 hours of sleep without a brain burst and fell asleep faster too. This is unprecedented for me. I've been sleeping with this comforter for a few weeks now and have come to the conclusion that there really is something to weighted comforters and better sleep. I have vivid dreams that tell me I'm sleeping more deeply. Sometimes you don't want to get out of bed in the morning because it's so cosy. (I'm so glad I'm retired!) Having seen my experience my husband is now interested in getting one as he also suffers from insomnia so we will be buying a £20 twin for him . That way I can get rid of the blanket under the covers, which I think will help keep us warm. I really like the soft satin feel of the fabric and the gray I ordered is a beautiful light grey. It's surprising how flat it lies folded (see photo) as I expected it to be bulky. I may update here later and give the duvet 5 stars but it's a bit early and I want to see if it holds up and how it washes. I chose not to purchase a duvet cover as the reviews show it doesn't fit very well. I also want the blanket to look nice when folded and I don't want to take it off and on day after day. Edited to add 7-11-20. I changed my rating to five stars after sleeping with this duvet for a few months. That's great. And still like new. I use it even in the summer and it doesn't get hot (we have air conditioning and the cool air keeps the duvet fabric cool). My husband loves his too. I have recommended this to many friends.
