These are great. There is evidence that you should not store or freeze food in plastic containers. Especially acidic foods (think tomatoes, lemon juice, vinegar, like salad dressing), but probably foods in general. Plastic is said to leach plasticizers and phthalates into food. So old-fashioned glass is the answer. Of course, you should keep the food level under the plastic lids. I have frozen things in it. Haven't cooked anything in the microwave but the jar is quite large and would probably hold it well. I've bought these more than once and will probably do so again when they disappear in my freezer.
