I bought several of these mics to use for skits at my church. After we broke a few expensive microphones, I decided to only use cheap microphones for children and adult actors. For such a use, these microphones are more than good. To be honest with a little EQ I don't think anyone in the audience would have noticed the difference. I ordered a pair of these mics in two separate orders. On one order Revain was the supplier, on another I chose a different supplier and the order was fulfilled by Revain. The mics I received were very different. One from Revain came in Pyle retail packaging with instructions and warranty. The one from other sellers came in a plastic bag. Headphones are not exactly the same. The boxed device has better ear padding and comes with two windshields. The boxed unit came with a windscreen mounted on the microphone. Having to rewire some of these mics for use with the Telex bodypack transmitters, I opened up the mini XLR connector cover to inspect. To my surprise, the packaged unit contained a small circuit board with some components inside the connector. The packaged device only had two wires soldered directly to the pins of the connector. This made it easier to modify the boxed device. I chose to use complete blocks instead of Shure bodypacks as they would be more difficult to modify. Overall I think the packaged mic is a genuine Pyle mic and probably a bit more premium. The other one may not be genuine but seemed to work fine for my needs on wireless telex. BTW, if you need to convert one of these to telex, add a wire from pin 3 to pin 2, then add a 10kΞ© resistor between pin 2 and 3. Of course, this will void your warranty.
