An excellent desktop for beginners with one major downside.

Get started with the knowledge that this is lower spec hardware and a workstation or gaming computer for beginners. So I base my information on knowing this. You can't compare this to a $2500 computer because it isn't. I'm basing this review on how much I paid for it. What's good: I was super surprised by the 1650. Current games play great as long as you keep your graphics settings conservative. The 10100 processor is way better than I expected for such a small number of cores. Don't walk by this processor without looking at it. I do a lot of PCB design, which is a bit CPU intensive. This processor practically sleeps while I do my work because it doesn't even have to try. The efficiency and ability to spread the workload is fantastic for a processor on such a budget. Its multitasking ability is amazing for the price. Bad: Really HP? 1 rack of lamb? This is such a silly mistake. Making desktop computers is such an easy task these days. This requires a very simple set of rules. Using only one stick of RAM, regardless of its size, will result in the RAM operating in single-channel mode. This greatly disrupts the operation of the entire computer. Having 8 gigabytes of RAM isn't so bad if it were two sticks of 4 gigabytes each. But it was a flash drive for 8 gigs. The inexperienced user will not know that it holds back this desktop in large numbers. Needless to say, adding an 8GB stick and upgrading to 16GB of storage cost me $40 and is worth every penny. This computer was opened even further and turned into a little monster. My only other real issue with this computer is storage space. I knew what I was buying so it wasn't a surprise. Today's games are HUGE, and you can't fit more than a few modern games at a time on this small hard drive. We know you're going to make a lot of money off this machine, especially since you're using your own stripped-down motherboards and other parts. So add a second 1 or 2 terabyte mechanical hard drive! It costs you next to nothing and makes this desktop much more attractive. Tout this PC as a gaming PC, but barely playable? I had several spare hard drives so I threw one on the STANDBY WIRING THAT COMES INTO THE COMPUTER! It's like you wanted to do it, but at the last minute you took out the hard drive. Overall: 7/10 for an entry-level gaming PC or workstation. These two cons would make it a 9.5/10 for the price. I'm just saying. For now on a finished build I have yet to give the green light and buy this desktop if it meets your standards. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM and install it first thing before turning on your computer. You will be much happier.
