Okay, I have to throw in my 2 cents here. I bought this tripod because it is very light and has almost all the features I could wish for. Did I expect a high-end, professional quality tripod? NO! Only fifty bucks for Pete! I wanted to try a ball head, I've never had one. It has retractable spiked legs which I have found very useful in the past. I like the idea of a built in bubble level. The list goes on. So I use it. The ballhead works well - maybe not as strong as the Really Right Stuff monster ballhead - but it's pretty stable and doesn't slip. The pan/tilt head has a pretty small handle, but hey, I wanted a compact one, right? The bubble level on the base unit is actually a joke - it's not even remotely accurate, but I suppose with a little experimentation I can calibrate it and mark (can't adjust) where the column is actually vertical. There are bubble levels attached to the two quick release plates that look more legitimate, but I didn't quite get what they were for. QR plates work very well. The legs are made of beautiful aluminum tubing. Very thin, but that's what makes it so light. There is a groove on the inside of each leg segment that prevents it from rotating, when working with the beautifully crafted aluminum retaining rings (this is probably the prettiest/most functional part on a tripod). The combination of independent/central support leg system is the most original feature. The legs can be adjusted to different angles and still locked securely. Or the strut mounts can be attached to the legs and it acts like a regular symmetrical tripod with struts. Very smart! It has a bottom hook for a stabilizing weight. Yes, it's a bit mushy. I have to take care of him to keep him straight. But for a camera as light as my Lumix FZ50, it's solid and stable enough. If you have a 20-pound f/2.8 super-telephoto lens, this tripod probably won't hold up. Plastic fittings will likely crack in a year or two. I have other tripods that have much better heads, but they cost four to five times as much and weigh three times as much. It would be nice to have all of these features in a quality tiltall or arc tripod, but I can guarantee it won't weigh 3 pounds or be that cheap. is he perfect Of course not! But for such a price and weight just great! And included was a very nice canvas bag - a bonus! But for such a price and weight just great! And included was a very nice canvas bag - a bonus!
