Review on 📲 ALITOVE WiFi LED Controller SP108E: iOS Android App Wireless Remote Control for WS2812B SK6812 WS2813 RGB LED Pixels by Nicholas Peters

I used them for an under cabinet lighting project in a very small area right next to my wifi router. Connecting the LED strip to the power supply and this controller was simple and easy. I had no trouble connecting to the controller directly from the mobile app; Changing the number of addressable LEDs in the strip (when the strip arrived only the solid part of the strip lit up, and some didn't light up afterwards, this was easily solved by telling the controller how many LEDs to address). Part came in the form of over an hour of plugging and unplugging the device and trying to get the mobile app to finish setting up the controller. It was really just trial and error, plugging the device back in, entering the wifi network password and hoping it worked, eventually it did and I was able to control it from the mobile app while on my home network . Now for the sadness. My use case requires the controller to be on my home network so I can map IFTTT/Smartthings routines to it; Previously, the controller was unable to hold a configuration (under continuous power) for more than 48 hours. It somehow regularly loses connection (despite being less than 12 inches from the Wi-Fi router); and it seems to me that this product will be a great novelty and useless utility. I guess I'll eventually give up and just build my own Arduino or Pi controller and plug it into mains power. UPDATE: ALITOVE people sent in a replacement unit; Note that it shouldn't work as I found in my review. The new block contains the configuration; And REALLY stays connected to the local network (although sometimes it takes a few "updates" in the app to install - my router logs show a stable connection). Upgrading this to five stars for the excellent customer service and the device that works as expected.
