I bought this to connect PS2 and N64 to Samsung 65 inch UHD LCD TV. offers HDMI inputs. This converter comes with a wall-mounted power transformer, a composite video cable, and an S-video cable. I used to have a PS2 and N64 hooked up to an old Pioneer 55 inch plasma which made a great display for these games. It's nice that the manufacturer includes additional cables, which I didn't need to connect these two games. to this device. This converter is supposed to have an upscaler, and the Samsung TV also has an upscaler, so I'm not entirely sure I need an upscaler in this device. I looked at other converters offered at Revain for less without an upscaler. but there were only single input devices, either composite video or S-Video, or there were reviews saying they didn't work with the N64. So this device was the only one I could find that met my needs. Connected PS2 and downloaded Tiger Wood PGA Tour 2005. This converter outputs the game in 16:9 widescreen format, so everything on the screen is stretched horizontally. I went into the Samsung settings and changed the screen format to 4:3, which got the game to display in the correct perspective. The gaming display's colors are bright and vibrant, but not as realistic as they were when I connected it to an old Pioneer TV. For example, the white of the sand traps was so light that it was difficult to see the white. bullet in it. However, some of the other white guys in the scene were doing fine. Playing around with the TV's brightness, contrast, and other picture settings didn't seem to fix the problem. Also, for some reason, the image loses sharpness in background scenes like grass fairways and sand traps. Some text displays and the edges of some backgrounds will also be slightly jagged. I don't know if these issues are related to scaling or something else. I switched between 720P and 1080P output on the converter and the results were the same. Then I plugged in the N64 and plugged in Mario Super 64. At first I got a blue screen, but then I remembered that I had to press a button on the converter to toggle between composite video and S-Video. As soon as I did that I had an image. I noticed similar results, bright and colorful images, but jaggedness in some text and background images. In summary, this converter seems to work in my particular application, but it's a compromised image that I have to stop at. I wish my Pioneer wouldn't let me down as it offered an excellent display for playing those old games. If I had room for two big screen TVs and were a big gaming fanatic, I might consider buying another older technology display that offers direct composite and S-Video input just for gaming. But whatever the case, I'll just put up with a lower overall image quality when playing these games.
