Review on Micca Pure Copper Speaker Wire with Gold-Plated Banana Plugs, 14 Gauge, 6ft (2m), Pair by Mark Jefferson

Good Wire, Bad Plug

These cables were purchased new with a new pair of Micca RB42 bookcases. Hooked everything up to my new Aiyima A07 amp and the correct channel was missing. The real situation is scratching my head until I fumbled and wiggled one of the banana plugs on the Micca speaker cable on the right speaker terminal. The channel signal was restored and everything sounded normal in the future. Never has a retail brand cable come out of the box like this. Visually, the cables and banana plugs looked good and fitted well. Micca should take a closer look at their quality control department and find out why I'm not the only customer having these complaints about these cables. The right of return had already expired when the broken cable was discovered. I ended up cutting off those original miniature banana plugs and installing my own with no connection problems. BIG trouble, but an unfortunate lesson was learned from this faulty product. I love their RB42 speakers, not speaker wire. Two stars for the wire itself being of very good quality.

Pros
  • Gold plated banana plug with soldered knot provides a secure connection that won't come loose.
Cons
  • Expensive
