Bright light, but not without problems

I needed a light shade for my Kawasaki Mule. This light seemed to fit the bill. I built a custom overhead console to install it. After connecting the light, I noticed that it turns on or off with fluctuations in the input voltage. This means if the light is on and you turn on the engine, it will turn off and vice versa. I connected the built in switch to solve this problem and haven't had any problems since.
