Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ StarTech.com 4 Port Triple Monitor DVI USB KVM Switch - Multi Monitor KVM with Audio & USB Hub (SV431TDVIUA), Black by Don Merritt

No cables included? Really, Startech?

This is the 3rd KVM switch I've bought because the first 2 times I bought the wrong types thinking they would work with my setup. While both KVM switches are priced the same as this one, they include all the cables that I will be using for the installation. This switch, on the other hand, comes without a cable! Seriously, Startech, even USB-A to USB-B cables to connect the switch to computers? Shame on you for saving $2 on each of these cables that would have cost you on a $300 unit! This switch should come with the 2 USB cables I mentioned, 2 sets of mic and speaker ports (to connect audio and mic from 2 computers to the KVM switch) and at least 3 DVI cables for the KVM switch to monitor ports (my the other 2 switches both include everything plus an extra set of 3 monitor cables). Otherwise everything seems to work more or less. I am having trouble connecting all the DVI cables to the switch because they are VERY close together. I had to unplug one of my cables because the connector was too wide, preventing the adjacent connector from plugging it in. Otherwise it seems to work as it should. The only problem is that when the active computers go to sleep, one of the monitors starts to flicker. I'm not sure if it's related to the KVM switch or if the computer is connected to the switch as that connection is via USB using a USB->DVI adapter. Hotkeys are good for switching between computers. Oh, one more thing - there's no manual, not even a quick setup guide. Just a hint as to where to download it, and even that hint doesn't list the model number. So you'll have to go back to the box it came in to find the model number to find the manual. Nice gesture from Startech!
