It's not as wide or long as some of the others, so you'll need to use an "X" smoothing pattern to get the most out of it. The fleshy side of the leather is similar in texture to the linen side of other slings, and 15-20 strokes from that side prime the blade perfectly. The smooth side doesn't have much tension, and for the best edge, the razor is ready to shave 40-50 light strokes. It's compact for travel and feels durable.
