These are hard nylon bristles, similar to old-fashioned brushes, but with one caveat: they are short-lived. Since these are the best I've found after a long search, I keep buying them. When the bristles start to wobble, I throw one away and use the other. One is enough for about three months of daily repeated cleaning. But since I wear hair, it works best in a sleek ponytail.
