The instructions could have been written better. We ended up attaching one end and then attaching the other end to the door on the extension we were going to open and attaching it there. The piston didn't move at all initially, it took them some effort to get them to move, but once they did they seemed to work better. It was very frustrating to take our hand off the ball when we needed to make adjustments and there were no instructions on how to do it. After all, it's pretty easy once you know what you're doing. We'll see if they hold up over time, but now that we have it we're happy with it. Our door is quite heavy but we think one house will do the job so the second didn't even get installed.
