There are a few things I really care about in a monitor and this ticks all the boxes that I'm looking for in the first place: 1. Retinal resolution (because once you have it you'll never go back)2. 100% Mac compatible (I'm using a 2021 MacBook M1)3. Refresh rate of at least 60Hz. I'm not a gamer so can't talk about that, I use this for programming, for business productivity, casual video playback, video conferencing, you get the point. If you want crazy 4k or 1080p response go ahead, this isn't the option for you. Got a damn good Prime Day deal, it was "outdated" but it still had sticky plastic on it - looks brand new and costs just under two hundred dollars. I can't say I've ever spent more money and even at $299 as of this writing I would buy it. Colors are great, vibrant, black and gray are right where you want them and it has a solid feel. You should use a DisplayPort connection as most new Macs run at 60Hz. Apparently HDMI can be adjusted (Monitor Settings > Menu > Picture > Game Setup > Response Time: High) to get 60Hz, but it never goes above 30 for me - it feels laggy and mouse movement doesn't have the smoothness that you would probably use to do this. I've tried several monitors and this one works great for my needs. I hope you find this useful and give it a try if you have the same problem.
