Bought for a 5 year old girl, tall and thin. We got a small one. It was a bit too big at the waist, so she just tucks the belt in until it's tight enough to stay on her feet. He loves the length, but I have to warn others about the color: the red bleeds when washed. In fact we've had it for a year now and it STILL works in the wash and has destroyed a few other clothes (I usually only wash it separately with dark clothes but sometimes she throws it in with other laundry and I don't notice until it's too late). I had to make a sacrifice to keep this from happening again. Unfortunately because she really loved it. Maybe other colors don't have this problem, I don't know.
