The Scotch-Brite Clean Scan Test Kit is an easy-to-use test kit that can help you determine how clean your home is and how effective your cleaning is. Efforts are aimed at removing bacteria, viruses and other germs from your surfaces. This kit contains everything you need to test surfaces, including nine test swabs (you get eight plus one more if you mess something up), two pre-clean tubes, two post-clean tubes, two wetting tubes, and prepaid shipping labels to send the kit in for testing. To use, simply dip the swabs into the wetting solution, wipe kitchen and bathroom surfaces with them, then place the appropriate swabs in the "Before Cleaning" tubes. Then clean your surfaces as usual and then put the appropriate swabs in the "post-cleaning" tubes. After wiping all surfaces, securely cap all tubes, then affix a prepaid shipping label to the box and ship. The results are coming very quickly - I sent my package out on Monday and the results were emailed to me on Friday. Brite doesn't really explain it. It looks like it just compares your home's cleanliness to other households it's tested and provides negative/positive results for the types of bacteria and viruses that were present on your surfaces. You'll also get general cleaning tips and advice on using Scotch Brite cleaners To be honest I wasn't too surprised by my results but I was expecting better cleaning results as I only use 70% alcohol to clean surfaces - maybe I just have to change the rags for a couple of cleaning rags or a couple of paper towels because my kitchen surfaces reflect that I'm not as tidy as the rest of the household - who knows? However, for nearly $250, I was expecting more information about my cleanse as well as more personalized results. While this was a fun experiment, I'm not sure I'd recommend it to everyone unless you have someone with an autoimmune disease in your home or just get sick more often than you think you should and want to. See if your cleaning habits are making the problem worse. Overall it's a fun kit, but I didn't like the uncustomized tips and general cleaners.
