Bought for my younger son. Our rule was usually no cell phones for our kids until high school. I didn't want him to have a phone but I liked the idea that he had an emergency mode for communication. The manual explaining how to set this up is confusing in my opinion with a lot of details I didn't quite understand and I felt like I was a cell phone expert or something. I wanted to leave this to my husband or give to one of his friends but we didn't have to. I ordered a SIM card from Tello which only allowed me a small amount of data, voice and text which I thought was a really good deal so he could easily use it to communicate with family and friends and in emergencies. If they are available in your area I would recommend trying this watch. You need to provide your watch IMEI number, so you need to wait for it to arrive to order the sim. The watch doesn't do anything without a sim. Once you place a sim, it obviously becomes more functional. The voice and video quality is not that high, but it is functional. Text works fine. Fitness tracking lets him see how active he's been (I track fitness on my Samsung Galaxy watch and he wanted to do the same) which he enjoys. The included app is not the best. It is confusing and sometimes difficult to use and requires many interface and functionality improvements. There are some features that we haven't quite grasped yet, but basically we wanted something that could tell the time, track fitness and be used to communicate in light and emergency situations, and it really does those minimal things. chunky, especially on a kid's wrist, but my son seems to find them quite comfortable, and he really likes the smart watch to call. It would be nice if it also did virtual sims like most Samsung and Apple watches, but I think that would also make it a lot more expensive than it already is. Although I think the price of these watches is too high. Much of what it can do can be done with other smartwatches that are cheaper and less confusing. The things that should make this watch worthwhile (child safety features) just don't work that well, and it's not easy to set up and use. It's not an intuitive design and it's not particularly user-friendly.
