They are very strong but oh! I have some hair that I always have to pluck and it's very easy to hurt yourself by getting too close to the skin, especially when the hair is short. The description says they are sharp, they don't lie, but I think the beveled one is too painful. Since they are not angled but completely straight and square, I keep pinching myself. I almost got them back after trying them the first time but decided to just give it a try and be very careful. The spikes are great and don't cause skin or blood damage. I have the yellow ones and just love that they are so easy to find and the length is great too, compared to all the pairs I have had they are much easier to manage. I don't throw them away and they're just easier to use, but I'll look for another quirky pair for personal use. I leave them for crafts, repairs, etc.
