Good quality hiking backpack

This review is for the Osprey Escapist 18 backpack. I haven't had the chance to use it many times but as there isn't one for this particular review I thought I'd try to get my first impressions to hopefully help others who are looking at this. Overall it looks like a really well built backpack. I haven't found any issues with quality control yet, all zippers work perfectly. All white markings on the bag are reflective. Depending on how much weight you put in the bag, I'm worried that the vent cutouts in the part that rests against the back will shrink and reduce ventilation. but then again, it's not a big bag, so I'm not sure you want "heavy" loads at all. drinking bag. It is open at the top and is located between the rear wall and the main storage compartment. It has a clip at the top and runs the full width and height of the bag. Since the top is always open, you can detach the hose from any part of it, but there's no way it will come out anywhere else. Next comes the shoulder straps. They are made of mesh and foam on both sides with lots of holes so I think they will have good ventilation. There are elastic loops on either side (presumably for attaching gear/hydration hose) and underneath one less elastic loop with reflective material. There is a small pocket on the left strap that ONLY fits my iPhone 6s (not Plus) without a case. I think it would be useful, maybe for a rock bar or something, or maybe a little point and shoot camera. Under the bag there is an adjustment bar for the chest strap. There is a small compartment on the top between the main compartment and the drinking area. I'm assuming this is for frequently used stuff so you don't have to dig through the 'big' stuff compartment. For my purposes, this would be a great place to put another camera lens or a snack. Fastened with a zipper. There is not much to say about the main department. It's like a bag. No real features to speak of, just empty space. It is worth noting that two additional compartments (the previous one and the rain compartment) take up space in the main compartment. The zipper in this compartment opens about halfway down the bag. Between the bike helmet holder (which I can't talk about as I neither own a bike nor a bike helmet, although I will mention that you can adjust the distance from the holder pocket (to an extent)) and the Osprey logo is a Hole for an extra compartment containing two mesh pockets about 5" x 6" high on the right and left sides and there are two elastic bands in the middle (see photo). In addition, there is a plastic clip (probably for keys). A little further out (section with large Osprey logo and "ESCAPIST 18”) is a stretch pocket that opens upwards. Below is a compartment for a raincoat. The rain cover is removable if you need space for something else. I suspect there are water bottle holders on either side. They are made from the same stretch fabric as the last heel. I don't have many water bottles to experiment with here, but it fits my 20oz Hydroflask perfectly. There are also compression straps on either side that can be worn over or under these pouches. Mine turned out to be one on top and one on the bottom (which I'm guessing so you know it's an option. I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise). Keep in mind that this isn't a very large backpack and you can't fit a lot of stuff here. I wasn't looking for a big backpack. I needed something for day trips, with an extra lens or two for my camera, as well as a first aid kit and some snacks. This will hold everything and more. I think it'll be great because I bought it and if I use it more often I'll update the review with any issues that arise (or if it's still great I'll update it to reflect that as well). Update: So far so good, I've used it on a few hikes and it's worked really well. The rear ventilation wasn't the best, but a lot better than my old camelbak. Also, it was very stable throughout the campaign and didn't change much. I've also used it as a carry-on when flying and it fits nicely under the 737 bus seats. I put my 13" MacBook Pro in the hydration pocket and it fit great, but it wasn't very easy to put in and take with you.
