Ask if the Apple Pencil fits in this case

I like supcases in general. I have them for most if not all of my Apple devices, from iPhones to multi-generation iPads. They tend to be pretty strong, durable, and stylish if you like that kind of look, although you do have to pay a small price in the form of extra weight. They're also priced to grab market share from Otterbox and Lifeproof. These specific iPad Pro cases follow previous versions of their Unicorn Beetle iPad cases with an additional kickstand inside the case. It wasn't a good match. It's a little flimsy, offers only one angle, and can only be used in landscape mode. It also encourages dust to get into the back of the case since the case is no longer sealed on all sides (I'm not counting the ports). For a dark cabin, this isn't the best compromise. Other than that, the case is solid and I've always appreciated its front and back plating. As with all cases of this nature, it is not possible to access Smart Connection for an Apple keyboard. One thing that seems to confuse people is whether you can connect directly to the Lightning connector with the Apple Pencil case, with multiple reviews saying yes while others say no. Well I bought 3 of these suction cups in different colors and I can tell you why: some cases have a different design where there is a cut out for a pen in the plastic next to the zip opening while others don't. If you need this ability you need to find this cutout (picture attached - you can see it in the blue case compared to the pink case which didn't have it). It's impossible to say for sure until you get a case, but at least now you know what to look for. Also, Supcase was great at sending replacements after they were contacted. It arrived literally within 2 days of my email which is great customer service. I would continue to buy from this company and product line because of their service and product reliability - just remove that damn stand design, it's useless.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • No insurance
