If I had to describe this compass in one word, it would be durable. It's made of a durable alloy (probably aluminum) and feels solid in the hand. It's also fully featured, with luminous cardinal markers, waypoint line and bezel back. There are the usual compass scale markings, as well as an inclinometer, sighting eye and mini bubble level. The lid has a well-designed function with a transparent part, which not only can be used to determine the bearing, but also shows the compass map and waypoint line when the lid is closed. There are also some fairly well-written instructions that tell you how to use the compass (albeit briefly) to determine distance, bearing, bearing, and angle. Speaking of uses, this compass could even be used as a crude sextant if you know how. In fact, the compass can be used, but with a few annoying features. Finding your bearing or bearing is incredibly easy thanks to the massive clear window in the lid and a peephole through which you can see the compass map directly. (The peephole is actually adjustable for focus, nice feature). Because it is a "lens" compass, it must be held very close to level to work well. The spirit level on the housing helps with this. in theory. In my example, the "level" on the case and what the compass card called "level" were two completely different things. This can be a little annoying as you have to keep tilting the compass back and forth to make sure the map is floating freely. (Of course, this happens when walking, but standing still requires a small "hand gesture".) The luminous bezel is a real joy to use. If the compass was exposed to the sun for just a few minutes, the bezel would glow brightly for several hours, bright enough to read the bearing through the peephole in total darkness. The waypoint marker also glows brightly. Just like the north indicator on the compass map, but you have to look closely to see it. All in all, this is a really reliable compass. If you are looking for something really durable with well thought out features then this is a great compass. Yes, it has a few features that no compass can do without, especially in this price range.
