I was surprised by the quality for this price.

I decided to leave a review on this camera, despite the fact that I sold it a long time ago, but the nostalgia remains, and the camera is still very relevant (if you don’t need to write video in 4K). Before buying a Canon Power Shot G7 X Mk II, I chose for a long time, watched reviews, read reviews. The goal was to buy a camera for filming vlogs (video blog). During use, I managed to shoot a lot of material both in the cold, and in the sauna, and at high speed, and with minimal lighting. I recommend to immediately buy a monopod for the camera. I was not disappointed with the camera and definitely recommend it for buying if you need a lightweight compact camera for travel and blogging, which gives awesome quality for its size!

Pros
  • 1) Metal body - looks and feels solid in the hands. 2) Rotatable screen is ideal for shooting SELFIE and vlogging 3) The quality of the resulting photos pleases, given the fact that this is still an advanced, but a soap dish. I also have a Canon full frame DSLR. Of course, it makes no sense to compare the quality of photos with it, but I definitely didn’t buy the G7 X as the main camera. 4) The ability to shoot photos in RAW is a great bonus for those who want to bring their own photos to mind. The raw file capabilities of the G7 X are, of course, far from the raw file capabilities of a DSLR, but nevertheless I have often been rescued. 5) Fast lens - as a result, there is much less noise from high ISO in photos and videos. The G7 X can shoot great videos at night with minimal lighting! 6) Video stabilization is great! Filmed at high speed while driving a snowmobile along a forest road - the picture turned out great - even in a movie! But you need to take into account that the stabilization of the camera cuts the video at the edges to remove the "shaking". Therefore, the image coverage is significantly reduced when shooting video. And the stronger you set the stabilization level, the more the picture will be cropped. 7) Touch control from the screen - always right during the shooting, you can poke on the screen and indicate where you want to focus. 8) Microphones record perfectly, but still, when you speak - do not turn away from the camera - the sound immediately "leaves". With strong external noise, you need to turn on the increased noise reduction settings. 9) There is a built-in hidden flash that does not crash when she wants it, and I can use it myself when I need it. 10) In the G7 X Mk II version, it became possible to recharge the batteries via a usb cable without removing the battery from the camera - and that's cool. Given that the battery runs out quickly, you have to do this often and it is much easier to plug the camera into charging from any smartphone with a similar connector.
Cons
  • There are no critical cons. You need to understand for what purpose you take this camera. The quality of photos and videos will never compare with the quality of material from DSLRs. With a strong increase, you see blurry pixels in the photographs, there is no super clarity, the light range is much smaller. But this camera is for other purposes: take it with you in your pocket to take photos without straining with a DSLR. Shoot a perfectly stabilized and balanced video without unnecessary troubles with the settings. By the way, all the settings and lotions in the camera menu are over the roof, but, to be honest, they are hardly needed for the most part in order to spend time studying and setting them up. The video is perfectly shot on the machine, and the photos are easier than two hundred to the mind in the RAW editor. However, there is a main but powerful disadvantage of the Canon Power Shot G7 X - it's a weak battery. The battery size is small, but the screen is huge. And apparently, this screen eats up its charge. If the battery survives 1 day in the gentle use mode, it's already a victory for it . Once the battery let me down powerfully. She was charged a week before the shooting itself, and on the shooting itself she sat down 2 times faster than she should have. In general, even a battery that is simply stuck into a camera without use is discharged - therefore, charge it before shooting, and in general, buy at least 2 spare batteries. The originals cost a lot of money - I recommend ordering analogues 5 times cheaper - there is no difference.
