I built my own driving simulator out of wood in the mid-2000s. Fast forward to 2020 and I have a 15 year old son who wanted to race online. I gave up my cockpit but still had a steering wheel, homemade pedals and a shifter. So I bought it for his birthday to see if he would race online long enough to recoup the time/investment of rebuilding the cockpit simulator. The platform holding the steering wheel moves VERY heavily. I ended up making a stamped corner from the wheel mount diagonally back to the pedal ramp. In my opinion this should be part of the design. Just two pieces of flat bar with adjustment holes would solve this inherent problem with this design.
